Alfie Kilgour and Georgia Vandries awarded PFA Community Champions for 2020/21

Bristol Rovers and Bristol Rovers Community Trust are pleased to announce that Alfie Kilgour and Georgia Vandries have won the 2021 PFA Community Champion Award.

The PFA Community Champion Award aims to raise awareness of the support its members provide to community activities throughout the course of the season.

Throughout the last year, Alfie has recorded messages for supporters via social media, delivered food and computer tablets to vulnerable and isolating supporters, as well as supporting Bristol Rovers Community Trust students via Zoom calls during the lockdown periods.

Community Manager Matt Bennett, said 'It is a very proud moment to present Alfie with this award. I have known Alfie since he was 8 years old and seen him develop into the player he is today. He has always been a terrific person, even from a young age and is a shining example of what it takes to be a top pro. It is a special feeling to have a true Bristol Rovers fan playing for our first team and supporting our community projects. He has turned into a fantastic role model on and off the pitch and this award demonstrates the hard work and dedication he puts into supporting the projects that the Community Trust deliver. As one of our Community Ambassadors he has worked tirelessly, giving up his own time, to give back to the fans through the Community Trust projects. He truly is one of our own and one we should be very proud to have as part of our club. '

As well as recognising the impact made by PFA members in the community, The organisation is delighted to venture into the grassroots game and reward amateur players for their volunteering work throughout the season.

We are also thrilled to announce that ‘Gas Girls’ Georgia Vandries has been awarded the PFA Community Champion Award for her community work with Bristol Rovers Women’s FC. Vandries volunteered her time to play a major part in the successful delivery of the ‘Tackling Loneliness’ project. Whether it was through garden gate visits, food parcel deliveries or telephone calls, Vandries became an integral part of the project.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers Community Trust would like to thank Alfie, Georgia and the whole team for their valued support throughout a difficult year for us all.
