Last night over 100 people attended The Memorial Stadium to receive information and ask questions at a Prostate Cancer Awareness Evening, hosted as part of The John Green Campaign.
The Seat Unique Suite was packed with men from across Bristol to listen to a panel hosted by Geoff Twentyman, including expert urologist Professor Jonathan Aning, former Bristol Rovers player Lee Mansell and support worker and ambassador Lloyd George Russell.
The panel shared their expertise, experiences and answered questions from those in attendance about prostate cancer, with everyone who took the time to attend receiving a free ticket for Rovers' home match against Accrington Stanley - a fixture dedicated to The John Green Campaign.

The month-long initiative will conclude on Saturday 28 March 2026 as Bristol Rovers dedicate the matchday to John Green and prostate cancer awareness. The North Bristol NHS Trust will be at The Memorial Stadium ahead of kick-off, providing health checks and guidance to supporters.
We’d like to thank everyone who attended last night’s fantastic evening, including representatives from Macmillan Cancer Support, Rover Talk Club Captain Andy Dodd, Dai Jones from Prostate Cancer UK, and members of the public. Your willingness to share experiences and be part of the conversation made the evening such a success.
Bristol Rovers Community Trust, CEO Adam Tutton, added:
"The campaign so far has been an amazing success, with the response we’ve already received. However, the upcoming matchday on the 28th will be a huge moment - and we’re asking all Gasheads to play their part in supporting the John Green Campaign. There have been several activations taking place, delivered by the Club, ourselves, and collaborators including the Bristol NHS Group, all aimed at raising awareness and supporting the prevention of prostate cancer - UTG."

I liked reading about the prostate cancer information evening because it highlights the importance of awareness and open conversations about health issues. It reminded me of attending a community health event where experts shared useful information in a simple and approachable way. During that busy academic period, I relied on do my assignment support to keep up with coursework while participating in community activities. It shows how education and awareness can make a real difference.
