BTEC Students and 'Gas Girls' help to tackle loneliness

Bristol Rovers Community Trust students and Bristol Rovers Women's players Katie Rawlings, Jess Lumber and Katie Davies have been volunteering their time to make phone calls in support of the 'Tackling Loneliness' project.

The girls were happy to volunteer during half-term, to call some of our elderly and vulnerable supporters during this most recent lockdown. The 'Tackling Loneliness' project which is funded by the DCMS and the EFL Trust has already made a significant difference to members within our community, some of which have been donated computer tablets for them to keep in touch with family and friends.

The project has already engaged with over 2,000 participants since the first lockdown, where letters, phone calls and garden gate visits have been a regular feature from day one. Despite the absence of training and matches for nearly 3 months, Bristol Rovers Women's remain committed to helping the community and the projects that continue to run at the Community Trust.
