Cameron Mills Wins at the BBC Radio Bristol 'Make a Difference Awards'

Cameron Mills celebrates winning the 2025 BBC Radio Bristol Young Hero Award.

We are incredibly proud to share that Cameron Mills has been named the winner of the Young Hero Award at this year’s BBC Make a Difference Awards.

The Make a Difference Awards celebrate people who go above and beyond to improve the lives of others in their community. This year, 14-year-old Cameron from Horfield was recognised for his outstanding contribution and dedication to helping others.

Cameron volunteers as a sports coach with us here at the Bristol Rovers Community Trust, supporting both our disability football group and our anti-social behaviour diversion sessions. He also helped to launch The Reboot Project, a scheme that collects donated football boots and passes them on to those who might otherwise struggle to afford them.

Speaking on the night, Gladiator star Apollo, who judged the Young Hero category, said:

“Cameron, you are proof that quiet actions can have a huge impact and I'm so, so proud to name you as my Young Hero.”

Our PL Primary Stars lead Frazer Phillips and Community Trust Community Coach Danny Rowson, were there to show their support and celebrate Cameron’s incredible achievement. Everyone at the Trust is delighted that his hard work and positive influence have been recognised in such a special way.

Frazer Phillips, who attended the ceremony added:

“We are all so proud of Cam and his achievements! He has been amazing in what he has done for Bristol Rovers Community Trust, from volunteering on our fun days to help coach the young children, but also in his Reboot project to help give everyone a chance to enjoy playing football. Knowing Cam, he certainly won't be stopping there! His ideas and ambitions are fantastic to hear about and he is someone who should inspire many young people. It's been brilliant to see him grow and develop his own skills over the years, while always putting others first, and so his award is fully deserved! A huge thank you to Cam for inviting us to celebrate his award and all his hard work."

Danny Rowson, added:

"Everyone at the Trust is so amazed by Cams determination to elevate the lives of people around him, all his hard work and effort doesn't go unnoticed by the people close to him and now it's shown with this BBC award!

Watching him being recognised and winning such as prestigious awards is satisfying to all those at the Trust who have worked with Cam, and watched him develop over the years."

Cameron’s mum, Kelly, also attended the ceremony and added:

“I want to thank everyone at the Bristol Rovers Community Trust for allowing Cameron to be himself. Everyone takes their time with Cameron, and I appreciate all who have been around him. This award wouldn’t have been possible without the Trust’s support, guidance, and care. Thank you.”

At the Trust, we have no doubt that Cameron will continue to inspire those around him. We are so proud to be part of his journey and can’t wait to see what he achieves next.
