Bristol Rovers Join Forces with Her Game Too for International Women’s Day 2026 -

Bristol Rovers were proud to join forces with Her Game Too at the Memorial Stadium this weekend in celebration of International Women’s Day, highlighting the importance of equality and inclusion within football.

Her Game Too founder and lifelong Gashead Caz May created a powerful and inspirational video to support women in sport and shine a light on the barriers that women still face in the game today. The video was played on the big screen at the Memorial Stadium ahead of kick-off, helping raise awareness among supporters and reinforcing the message that football is a space for everyone.

Just before kick-off, members of the Her Game Too team took to the pitch for a lap of honour around the stadium. The moment was met with a fantastic reception from the Bristol Rovers supporters, demonstrating the club and fanbase’s commitment to equality and to ensuring women feel welcome and valued within the football community.

Speaking after the moment, Caz May reflected on the experience::
“I plucked up the courage to get myself on the pitch and join the lap of honour that we organised. I originally said no to this, because I was fearful that our fans would react negatively to the work we are doing. This hasn’t come out of nowhere - I have had my fair share of horrid experiences with our fans - but as you can see from this video they are certainly in the minority. I couldn’t stop smiling at the incredible reaction from the Bristol Rovers supporters yesterday. With the amazing support from the Club and the reception from the fans, I’ve fallen in love with Bristol Rovers all over again. It was also emotional seeing and waving to my mum in the stands, the strong woman who inspired me to get into football, despite not many women being visible.”

The initiative forms part of Bristol Rovers’ continued commitment to promoting equality and challenging discrimination in all forms. By working alongside organisations such as Her Game Too, the Club and Community Trust aims to break down barriers and ensure football remains a welcoming space for women and girls across the community.

Moments like this serve as an important reminder that the game belongs to everyone.
