In memory of John Kayes; Bristol Rovers vs Salford City.
Last weekend at The Memorial Stadium, all those connected to Bristol Rovers came together to celebrate the extraordinary life and legacy our dear friends, John Kayes, leaves behind.
John was more than a supporter - he was a driving force in helping to inspire the next generation of Gasheads. Through his tireless fundraising and his unwavering dedication to our community he helped the Community Trust provide many great events for fans, both young and old while raising vital funds to enable us to continue the work we do. He was always the first to step forward to help others, driven by a deep sense of compassion and selflessness and a deep rooted love for Bristol Rovers. His commitment to uplifting those around him and nurturing the next generation of fans was inspiring to all who knew him. He has left a lasting legacy on our club and its community.
That commitment to family and community was beautifully reflected on Saturday, when more than 20 members of John’s family - from just a few months old to 70+ - attended the fixture against Salford City to honour his life. Their presence was a powerful symbol of the values John stood for: togetherness, kindness, and ensuring that Bristol Rovers would always feel like home for future generations.
Ahead of kick-off, a eulogy was read at the stadium, with fans applauding throughout. As the speech came to a close, a powerful chorus of 'Goodnight Irene' rang out across the ground. What followed was truly special - the Thatchers End erupted in applause and cheers, a heartfelt tribute to John’s incredible achievements and his unwavering dedication to Bristol Rovers.
John, you will be missed by all who knew you. But your legacy lives on - in your family, in the Bristol Rovers community, and in the countless lives you’ve inspired through your passion and generosity.

I didn’t expect much from payforessay.net, but they actually surprised me. The writer did a fantastic job on my sociology assignment. The arguments were logical, the citations were correct, and the essay read naturally. They even provided a free plagiarism report. For the price, the quality is better than I expected. I’ll probably use their service again next semester — totally worth it when you’re short on time.
Thank you for recognising my brother’s contributions to the club. He truly was mr Bristol rovers 💙🙌🏻
