On behalf of Bristol Rovers Community Trust and everyone connected with our charity, we would like to express our deepest sympathy following the passing of our dear friend, John Kayes.

John was a true Gashead in every sense of the word – he lived and breathed Bristol Rovers. His passion for our club was matched only by his generosity and commitment to helping others. Through his tireless fundraising for the Bristol Rovers Community Trust – including three incredible sponsored walks and his work towards the upcoming Duck Race – John gave so much of his time and energy to make a difference.

Beyond fundraising, John devoted many years to developing our younger fanbase, ensuring that the next generation felt a part of the Gas family. From sponsoring Community Trust parties to handing out scarves and badges to first-time visitors at the Memorial Stadium, he created memories that will last a lifetime and brought countless supporters closer to our club.

Adam Tutton, CEO of the Bristol Rovers Community Trust, shared these words:

“John’s contribution to the Trust, the football club, and our wider fanbase was extraordinary. His kindness, passion, and unwavering support will never be forgotten, and we are forever grateful for everything he did.”

Hayley Wallace, Community Trust Fundraiser and Events Organiser added:

“John was a heartbeat within the Community Trust, always turning passion into action and ideas into impact. His generosity, energy, and unwavering belief in bringing people together have left a legacy that will continue to inspire everything we do. Though we’ve lost one of our brightest lights, his spirit will live on in the community he cared for so deeply."

John’s passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts, but his legacy will live on in the smiles of young fans, in the friendships he helped create, and in the community he strengthened. He will always be remembered with love and pride by all of us in the Gas family.

Rest in peace, John.
With heartfelt condolences,
Bristol Rovers Community Trust.
