Community Trust & Freestyle Bristol to offer free coaching qualifications to young participants
Updated: Mar 7
Bristol Rovers Community Trust are delighted to be working alongside Freestyle Bristol to offer and exciting opportunity for young people within our community.
Freestyle Bristol work to support young people’s wellbeing and raise their aspirations. They do this by working with young people in a holistic way by providing both media and sport activities.
The Community Trust at Freestyle Bristol CIC recently had a joint application accepted to offer six participants the opportunity to access a fully funded FA Level 1 Coaching Qualification. On completion of the 4-week qualification, the six participants will shadow Bristol Rovers Community Trust staff across a variation of our projects, to gain further coaching experience within the community.
Inclusion Lead, Will Dixon said "We're thrilled to be working with Freestyle Bristol to offer young people people in our community the chance to gain some coaching qualifications and some experience alongside our own Coaches. Delroy at Freestyle Bristol CIC has done a fantastic job to engage with these young people and we're looking forward to offering our support."
Managing Director of Freestyle Bristol, said "One reason for setting up the coaching programme is that we noticed a tendency for some players when they get into their late teens to drift away from football and we wanted to give them options to stay and develop the players of the future. Another thing we discovered when talking to the young people we work with was that many were really interested in taking coaching qualifications but were often deterred by the costs of taking them, especially in the current economic climate which is why our courses are free. It has been great working with the Community Trust and they have been ideal partners for us as they also provide football sessions for similar aged young people and totally get our aims for those who attend. It's not just because I'm also a Gashead, honest!"
The Freestyle Bristol sessions are open to young men ages 14-18 and run on Fridays 7-9pm at Fairfield School, Muller Road, BS7 9NL. Sessions cost just £2
