The girls from Hayesfield Girls' School represented Bristol Rovers in the Area Finals of the 2024/25 EFL Girls Cup held at South Bristol Sports Centre last week.

The girls qualified for the second round of the tournament after winning the local round held at Lockleaze Sports Centre where over 120 girls taking part part.

Bristol Rovers were drawn to play each team in a league format, coming face-to-face with teams represent Plymouth Argyle, Cheltenham Town, Bristol City, Cardiff City, Swansea City, Exeter City, Newport County and Portsmouth.

In one of the most competitive tournaments in years, the girls managed to bag three victories, one draw and four defeats, just missing out on a place in the semi-finals. Despite being knocked out of the tournament, the girls thoroughly enjoyed the occasion and did their school and Bristol Rovers proud.

Head of participation, Will Dixon said "The girls had a fantastic day, and it was amazing to see the quality on display. We've seen the quality increase every year and the future is certainly looking bright for participation in girls football. We'd like to thank the Robins Foundation for hosting a fantastic event and we'd also like to thank the staff and the girls for brilliantly representing Bristol Rovers."

In an era of college football defined by the transfer portal's chaos and NIL deals that would make Fortune 500 executives blush, loyalty has become the rarest of commodities. Jeremiah Smith, the Ohio State wide receiver universally regarded as the best player in college football, recently turned down a transfer offer exceeding $10 million to remain a Buckeye . It was a decision that stunned the sport—and one that cemented his legacy before he ever plays another down. Ohio State Jeremiah Smith Jersey
