'Sleep Where You Stand' returns for 2022!

Bristol Rovers Community Trust are delighted to announce our Memorial Stadium Sleep where you stand 2022, giving fans the opportunity to sleep outside overnight in Bristol’s famous Memorial Stadium and help raise funds for the Community Trust and Caring in Bristol.

Caring in Bristol reach out to people experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness, develop the necessary services, evidence base, and public engagement, to create a city empowered to solve homelessness.

Sleep where you stand is a charity event designed to give people an insight into the severity of sleeping conditions that many people in our city have to face not only on one night, but every night of the year.

The event will take place between 8pm and 7am on Friday 25th March 2022

Sleep where you stand participants will spend the night sleeping in stands within the Memorial Stadium and will be asked to bring along warm clothes, a sleeping bag and ground mat. The Community Trust will provide participants hot soup and roll in the evening, as well as a bacon butty in the morning. We are pleased to say every participant will be given a ticket for our home game against Bradford City on Saturday 2nd April, kindly donated by Bristol Rovers Football Club. So, participants really will be “sleeping where they stand”

Every participant will be asked to raise a minimum of £150 as well as paying a registration fee of £20. The event was extremely popular in 2020 and we are limited on places so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Bristol Rovers Community Trust will be running of the event and Trust staff will be taking part. Community Trust CEO, Adam Tutton said, “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Caring in Bristol on this year’s Memorial Stadium Sleep Out. As the football club’s official charity, we look to help improve the lives of everyone within our great city and support those people experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness”.

Corporate and Community Partnerships Coordinator, Luke Mitchell said, “We feel very privileged to be partnering with the Rovers Community Trust for this years’ Sleep where you stand event. With an aim of creating a city empowered to solve homelessness, it is vitally important that we develop and maintain these wonderful relationships to make a truly meaningful difference in our city. This year we hope to raise more money and increase engagement with more people in the community than ever before.”

Fundraising Manager Helen McCartan said, “Caring in Bristol has been supporting those at risk or facing homelessness for over three decades, and it is our supporters and partners, like Bristol Rovers Community Trust who make this happen. We’re so proud of the Bristol community coming together to help those in our city who need it most. The money raised from this fantastic event will help to ensure that we can provide the practical and emotional support needed by those experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Bristol. Our work is only possible because of organisations like Bristol Rovers.”
