Today, Bristol Rovers Community College was delighted to welcome prospective post-16 students to our annual BTEC Taster Day, giving them the opportunity to experience life on our Community College programmes.
Led by our Head of Recruitment, Danny Rowson, and Head of Education, Will Dixon, the day was designed to provide students with a genuine insight into what they can expect when enrolling onto one of our BTEC courses this August.
The morning began with a football training session from 9:00am to 11:00am, allowing attendees to experience the practical coaching element of the programme. Following the training, students took part in a classroom-based session, giving them a first-hand look at how the educational side of the course complements their football development.
Students were then welcomed by Operations Manager Nathan Hallett-Young and CEO Adam Tutton, who spoke about the opportunities available through Bristol Rovers Community College, what students can expect throughout their studies, and the wide range of support available to help them succeed both academically and personally.
The final session of the day featured a Q&A panel with current and former Bristol Rovers Community College BTEC students. Prospective students were able to ask questions and hear first-hand experiences about studying on the programme, providing valuable insight into college life and what they can expect if they enrol this August.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to our staff, as well as our degree and BTEC students, who played a key role in delivering the taster sessions. Their support helped create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for everyone involved, while also giving them the opportunity to put their coaching session plans into practice as part of their own professional development.
Nathan Hallett-Young, BRCT Operations Manager added:
"It’s fantastic to see so many young people coming together to enjoy football in such a positive and supportive environment. These sessions are about much more than just the game - they’re an opportunity for prospective students to gain a real insight into what life on the Bristol Rovers Community College programmes is like."
