We are seeking to employ a dynamic individual to provide high quality education delivery for our expanding BTEC Level 3 in Sport. We are seeking someone who is knowledgeable and passionate about teaching, football and sport. The successful candidate will need to excel in classroom delivery and be able to engage with a wide range of people. There are also additional opportunities to deliver, or support the delivery of the football coaching element of our BTEC programme where our students represent Bristol Rovers in a national league which caters for all levels of ability.

Job Title: Sports BTEC Tutor at Bristol Rovers Community College

Reports to: Education Lead and Community Manager

Job Purpose: The Sports BTEC Tutor will be responsible for delivery, planning and assessment on our Level 3 BTEC in Sport

Core Duty: To teach on our BTEC Level 3 in Sport, with additional opportunities to deliver, or support the delivery of the football coaching element of this programme.

Location: Based at The Memorial Stadium, Horfield, Bristol

Contract: Full time starting September 2022 (ASAP).

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, predominately Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm

Annual Salary: £19,000 - £28,000 per annum, dependant on qualifications and experience

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach BTEC Level 3 in Sport to a wide range of learners aged 16-19

  • Seek to create an inspiring teaching environment to help learners achieve their full potential

  • Maintain all appropriate records

  • Undertake any CPD events necessary as part of staff training (both internal and external)

  • Ensure learner reviews are completed in line with set guidelines

  • Share good practice in teaching, learning and assessment

  • Ensure work is marked in accordance with set guidelines

  • Act as a personal tutor to students to ensure they achieve their goals

  • Contribute to quality assurance in relation to the curriculum that is being delivered

  • Support all learners with future career aspirations (UCAS, CV, apprenticeships etc.)

  • Support of additional educational programmes which enhance the College

  • Opportunities to coach, or support the coaching deliver, of the football element of our BTEC programme

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Level 4 or above teaching qualification (or willing to work towards)

  • Relevant degree

  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child welfare issues, procedures and best practice

  • FA Enhanced DBS check (or able to complete one)

  • A full clean driving licence for more than 2 years with access to own transport

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • PGCE / PCET / Qualified Teacher Status

  • Knowledge, understanding and experience of BTEC delivery

  • FA Level 2 Coaching Certificate (C Licence)

  • UEFA B Coaching Licence

  • 3 years knowledge & experience of sports teaching / coaching

Required Personal Skills and Qualities:

  • Ability to deliver high quality learner focussed sports lessons

  • Competent level of ICT skills, literacy skills, and Office 365

  • Ability to inspire, motivate and challenge students with an engaging manner

  • Ability to mentor other staff & students

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

  • Ability to prioritise workloads and deadlines

  • Adaptable with a flexible positive attitude

  • Understanding & commitment towards equality, diversity and inclusion

  • Act as a role model by displaying the appropriate values and standards of Bristol Rovers Community College
