Community Day 2022 | Ian Smith

Bristol Rovers are ready to celebrate their annual Community Day, this Saturday (April 2nd). Throughout the week, we'll be highlighting some of our participants who have benefited from the various programmes that we deliver.

Without the support of our fans, we simply wouldn't be able to make the impact that we do in our community. If every fans brings 'A Pound to the Ground' this Saturday, it will make a huge difference to our participants.

FIT FANS participant Ian Smith, tell us how the free programme has made a huge difference to his health and wellbeing.

"When restrictions started to ease during the Covid-19 Pandemic, I knew that I needed to make a positive change in my life. It was around that time where I saw the advert for the EFL Trust Fit Pirates programme run by Bristol Rovers Community Trust. I took the plunge and decided to register.

Naturally, everyone is a bit nervous in the first week but the support that I received from the staff, instantly made me feel welcome. The comradery and banter amongst the group was superb and the friendships I have gained from doing the 12-week course is something that will always stay with me.

The free course also gave me the knowledge, tools, and confidence to continue with a healthier and balanced lifestyle. I have since lost 4.5 stone, something which I never knew I’d be able to do.

I’m so proud of the work that Bristol Rovers Community Trust do within our City. I’m always happy to support their projects and initiatives whether it’s ‘Sleep Where You Stand’ or the ‘Gas Girls’ who have been an amazing addition to the Bristol Rovers family."
