Following a fantastic few days full of energy, laughter and football, we’re proud to reflect on another hugely successful BRCT Football Fun Days programme during the May half-term break.

Last week marked the end of the school holidays and the conclusion of our May Holiday Fun Day Camps. Across the week, our team delivered four exciting sessions at Lockleaze Sports Centre, creating a football camp experience that combined the sport with a variety of fun, family-friendly activities.

Each session brought together young people from across the local community, creating an inclusive, engaging and exciting environment connected to Bristol Rovers FC.

This year’s Fun Days also arrived alongside a surprise May heatwave, bringing wall-to-wall sunshine across all three sessions. Suncream, water bottles and regular shade breaks quickly became just as important as football boots, while hats and sunglasses almost turned into essential football gear for the week! The sunny conditions certainly helped create some brilliant photos and even better memories for everyone involved.

While the weather added to the fun atmosphere, the safety and wellbeing of attendees remained the top priority throughout the week. Staff carefully managed regular hydration breaks, encouraged participants to stay protected from the sun and adapted activities where needed to ensure all children could enjoy the sessions safely and comfortably.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to our staff, as well as the degree and BTEC students from the Bristol Rovers College programme, who played a key role in delivering the sessions. Their involvement not only helped create a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants, but also provided them with valuable opportunities to put their coaching session plans into practice as part of their ongoing development.

Nathan Hallett-Young, BRCT Operations Manager added:
“It’s fantastic to see so many young people coming together to enjoy football in such a positive and supportive environment. These sessions are about much more than just the game - they’re an opportunity to stay active, make new friends and build confidence. The energy across all four days was brilliant, and it really highlights the positive impact these camps can have within our community.”

This year’s May Fun Days proved to be another resounding success, with more than 130 young people attending across the three sessions. I was feeling completely numb after dropping one hundred and sixty quid on live game shows over the weekend. I was checking the weather on my phone to see if I could go for a walk to clear my head. A full-screen ad popped up for a casino offering fast payouts. I clicked it out of pure habit and ended up on https://prwd.co.uk/. I decided to risk my last twenty-five pounds on a high-volatility slot. After a few dead spins, the screen exploded with a bonus buy feature that I didn't even mean to trigger. It paid out five hundred and fifty pounds! I hit the withdraw button so fast. It wiped out my miserable losing streak and left me…
